Biography:
Jim Leishman completed his post graduate diploma in Electronic Imaging at the School of Television and Imaging at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in 1996.
Shortly after, he received funding through Scottish Screen's Screenworks scheme to direct Shadow Boxing, a documentary about a woman's struggle to become Scotland's first female boxer.
The documentary was screened at a number of international film festivals and received cinema distribution in the UK alongside a feature length documentary, winning best documentary at the Real to Reel Film competition.
In 1999 Jim Leishman was Producer/ Director and Lighting Cameraman at Speakeasy productions in Perth, producing, directing and shooting a number of broadcast and corporate productions for clients such as Channel 4, Celtic Football Club, the Metropolitan Police and Scottish Power.
In 2001 Jim set up Elysium Productions to develop projects such as documentaries on Poland and Romania's accession to the EU, ‘Dansette' a short film about a dance competition shot on HD and the Bridging the Gap commission ‘Full Circle', a documentary about a Bangladeshi orphan returning to her homeland.
