Biography:
Born in Budapest into a family of Chilean-Hungarian exiles and Hungarian filmmakers.
Yulia immigrated to the UK as a child, and studied at the London School of Economics and the Central School of Speech and Drama.
In 2004 she began Émigré Films in Edinburgh, where she now lives. Her film ‘Drowning' won a BAFTA (Scotland) for Best First Time Director and a nomination for Best New Screenplay.
‘Butterfly' is her first documentary commission, a rare and intimate portrait of a woman living with albinism. Premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, it received it's North American Premiere at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival
