Biography:

One of Paul's most recent works Rain in My Heart is perhaps his most powerful, and certainly most distressing documentary to date. At the Prix Europa Awards in Berlin, he won the prize for best television documentary. "This empathetic film is an account of alcoholism with four characters that accepted the camera into the most intimate and desperate parts of their lives, and deaths. The filmmaker gets thoroughly involved in his compassionate relationship with the lives of four alcoholics, chronicling their journey through hell"

Watson refuses to compromise with anything that remotely resembles a ‘feel-good' moment - they are notable only by their absence in his films - and his unflinching style reveals a world that many may find difficult to watch. Paul manages to to show remarkable intimacy in his films which are testament to his skills and experience as a filmmaker, and certainly to his decision to self-shoot, something he has chosen to do now for six or seven years. He quickly becomes close to his subjects and is able to elicit the most revealing and insightful of responses, challenging our own preconceptions.
