What starts out for filmmakers Violeta Ayala and Daniell Fallshaw as a family reunion in a refugee camp in Algeria turns into a dangerous political game. Initially set against the Sahara in the Polisario governed refugee camps, the film turns into a political thriller when the black Saharawis start talking about a forbidden subject… Their freedom.
The film follows the story of a Saharawi refugee separated from her mother as a toddler and reunited through a UN family reunion program. The reunion reveals a secret and the film quickly spirals into another world.
It becomes difficult to distinguish who are the good guys, as the ‘good guys’ turn bad and the ‘bad guys’ appear to do good.
